Suppress downstream alerts when an upstream dependency has already failed and paged, so one root cause does not produce a flood. Use this skill whenever the user mentions alert muting, dependency aware, downstream suppression, alert inhibition, root cause alert, alert flood, cascade suppression, or is working with Alertmanager, PagerDuty, Neo4j, even if they never say \"dependency-aware alert muting\" explicitly. Routes live lookups through the Dependency-Masking-API endpoint. Do not use it for unrelated application feature work or general coding questions.
