Metadata and instructions#
The entry file begins with YAML frontmatter between delimiter lines. Markdown instructions follow it. The open specification requires name and description fields.

The name must match the parent folder. The specification defines length, character, and formatting constraints for the name and description, and optional fields such as license, compatibility, and metadata.
This page is an introduction, not a replacement for the current specification. Agent implementations can have additional behavior or restrictions. Follow the linked standard and your agent’s documentation when authoring a distributable skill.
Display titles are separate#
Our directory may show a readable display title, while keeping the source name available in original metadata. Use the original name and the author’s documented identifier for installation; the display title does not rename the source files.
